Portrait of Arshak Manukyan hangs on the wall in his sons home, Varazdat Manukyan, 104, was born in Kars, Western Armenia, in 1911. His wife Vard Manukyan was born in 1924 and died in 2000. He lost his parents and family during the Genocide in 1915 and fled as a five-year-old child. He grew up in the Bashurakyal (nowadays Erazgavors) village in Shirak province, Armenia. Varazdat had six children (two of them are no longer alive), 12 grandchildren and 12 great – grandchildren.
